God's Delight

No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love. (Psalm 147:11, NLT)
Psalm 37 tells us to delight in the Lord. But have you ever wondered what God delights in?
God is not impressed with human effort. He’s not at all impressed with what we can do. He made us. He is impressed and delighted when we fear him and when we put our hope in him and his unfailing love.
Why fear? Fear can be terror or fright. But fear can also be proper reverence or awe due our Creator.
Fear recognized God’s power, presence and rightful control … of our lives and the universe … the micro and the macro. Fear recognizes God as God and acknowledges we are not. Fear recognizes God’s capacity to create or destroy. Bur fear isn’t the whole story.
There is hope. Hope in him and in his love.
Fear and hope. Creator and the created. God delights when we worship - in fear, hope and love – Him as our Creator God.
Lord, you made heaven and earth. I am in awe of you. Your majesty and divine nature are on display every day so man is without excuse. I worship you in awe and wonder. My hope is in you and your love for me.
Selah.
